IOTA 2009 - 25&26 July 2009

Due to the lack of experience of it s licensed members 5B4ES did not participated its self in this year's IOTA contest. We did however ivited Marios -5B4WN- to participate from our grounds.
The contest took place on the weekend between Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of July, beginning at 15:00 on Saturday and ending at 15:00 on Sunday. Our member Christos -5B4AIP- was there on Saturday to gain some experience for the future.
Let us hope all the best for marios.

Souvlaki day 2009 - 24/6/2009

Without any douts the "Souvlaki day" is by all means the favourite event of 5B4ES's members.
Like every year the members gathered togeather to enjoy some action on the radio and make and by all means consume the traditional "souvlaki".
This year we gathered togeather on the last day of school, immidiately after lessons. This "Souvlaki day" was a special one as it served two purposes: to celebrate the rennovation of the club's shack with an inauguration by the Headmaster Mr. Stuart Haggett and serve as a farewell party for the Headmaster and his wife who are leaving our school.
The whole thing proved to be quite a success as the food was great, even people who are not members of 5B4ES came to have some fun with us and everybody enjoyed it. There was also some radio action which excited the young members, pushing them forward to preapre for their HAREC examination.

5B4ES would therefore like to thank all the members for their efforts and the aid they provided in terms of food or equipment for the success of the event. We would also like to thank the teacher in charge for his economical contribution in the event and the Headmaster and his wife for their attendance.

Shack rennovation - 2009

It was clear since two years ago that 5B4ES's shack was in a heartrending condition. The walls were about to collapse, so was the seeling and during periods of rainfall water was dreeping from the roof threatening both the equipment as well as the members inside.
We began our effort to get out of this crevasse last September. We organised a cleaning day in the 2008 Autumn halfterm where the club and store room where cleaned and at the same time we began an effort to make our problem known to the school. Our members met with the Headmaster Mr. Stuart Haggett and the other related school authorities and spoke with them personally .The Headmaster was even invited to the collapsing shack to see the situation himself (something that happened with great results)! It is true that the school initially tried to offer us already existing rooms, unsuitable for the activities and history of 5B4ES. At the end, with some help from outside the school decided to take the right course of action to our great surprise and delight and rennovate the already existing historical shack. The rennovation works started in February 2009 and finished in May of the same year.
The rennovated shack was inaugurated by the Headmaster Mr. Stuart Haggett on the 24th of July and the inaugurations were followed by "shack made" "souvlaki", "halloumi" and "pastourma".

5B4ES would therefore like to thank the members, the teacher in charge, the related school staff and technitians for there trumendous effort as well as the ex-members of the club who stood by our side throughout our effort. Thank you everybody!
